LifeMonteverde is a small farm close to Monteverde where we spend two afternoons of our time in Monteverde working with Don Guillermo and his helpers. The work we do varies by season. For example, during the Winter trip, it is always coffee harvest season, so we spend time "picking" coffee beans. It is also the time to plant different vegetables and other things. During the months of May and June, we always carry homemade fertilizer (composted at the finca), and we cut food for the goats and other animals on the farm. There is always something to do on the farm. It's a peaceful place with things that we all like.

After working, there is always coffee and fried plátanos o pancakes ready to eat in the main building. Everybody enjoys the break and they talk about the days experience or they just visit about anything. Don Guillermo uses this setting to teach us about life in Monteverde and how the farm was established, what they do and the mission of LifeMonteverde to educate local school children and all visitors that come.
The farm is a place that lets everyone come into contact with the essential of Costa Rica - the people and the land.

A special note: The coffee, vegetables, and other goods sold that have come from the service provided by NMSU group students have benefited many people. They directly benefit the farm itself, funds earned have also gone to support scholarships for local school students in Monteverde and other funds have been donated to the migrant workers from Nicaragua that come each year to harvest coffee on the farm.
